چکیده

Modifications are proposed to the Stillinger-Weber potential, a semiempirical interaction potential for silicon. The modifications are specifically intended to improve the description of the amorphous phase. The potential is adjusted to reproduce the location of the transverse optic (TO) and transverse acoustic (TA) peaks of the vibrational density of states. These modifications also lead to excellent agreement with structural properties. Comparison with other semi-empirical potentials shows that amorphous silicon configurations generated with the modified potential have overall better vibrational

Amorphous Silicon Flat Panel Imagers for Medical Application

A new gamma camera based on hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) pixel arrays to be used in nuclear medicine is introduced. Various performance characteristics of a-Si:H imagers are reviewed and compared with those of currently used equipment. An important component in the a-Si:H imager is the scintillator screen. A new approach for fabrication of high resolution CsI(Tl) scintillator layers,...

Membrane selectivity versus sensor response in hydrogenated amorphous silicon CHEMFETs using a semi-empirical model.

Toxic amides, such as acrylamide, are potentially harmful to Human health, so there is great interest in the fabrication of compact and economical devices to measure their concentration in food products and effluents. The CHEmically Modified Field Effect Transistor (CHEMFET) based on amorphous silicon technology is a candidate for this type of application due to its low fabrication cost. In thi...

Interatomic potential for silicon defects and disordered phases

We develop an empirical potential for silicon which represents a considerable improvement over existing models in describing local bonding for bulk defects and disordered phases. The model consists of twoand three-body interactions with theoretically motivated functional forms that capture chemical and physical trends as explained in a companion paper. The numerical parameters in the functional...

A quality assurance program for an amorphous silicon electronic portal imaging device using in-house developed phantoms: a method development for dosimetry purposes

Background: Electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) play an important role in radiation therapy portal imaging, geometric and dosimetric verifications. A successful utilization of EPIDs for imaging and dosimetric purposes requires a reliable quality control process routine to be carried out regularly. In this study, two in-house phantoms were developed and analyzed for implementation in a qua...
